Questions
Do I need a WooCommerce API key or a plugin?
No. Shapo reads the reviews your store already publishes through the WooCommerce Store API, which is public by design. You paste your store URL and nothing is installed on your site.
I collect reviews with Customer Reviews for WooCommerce or ReviewX. Will those come across?
Yes. Both save their reviews as regular WooCommerce product reviews, so Shapo imports them like any other review. Review photos stay behind, because the Store API only shares the text, rating and reviewer.
We use Judge.me on WooCommerce. Should I use this source?
No. Judge.me keeps its reviews in its own system, so import them with the Judge.me source instead.
Shapo says my store does not share its reviews publicly. What now?
Some security plugins switch off the WordPress REST API for visitors, and very old WooCommerce versions do not have the Store API. Allow the /wp-json/wc/store/ routes in your security plugin, or update WooCommerce, then try again. Reviews you have in a spreadsheet can come in through Shapo's CSV import instead.
The same review is on several of my products. Will it show up several times?
No. Some stores copy one review onto every colour or size of a product, and some customers paste the same text into each product they bought. Shapo keeps the newest copy of each review and skips the rest.
Are reviews without a star rating imported?
No. WordPress lets a shopper leave a review without stars, and those are skipped because every Shapo review needs a rating.
Does Shapo change anything in WooCommerce?
No. Shapo only reads reviews that are already public on your store. Nothing is written back, and your product pages keep showing reviews as they do now.
How do new reviews get to my widget?
Turn on auto-sync when you import, and new WooCommerce reviews that match your filters are added to Shapo automatically. Auto-sync, and importing up to 1,000 reviews at once, are on the Pro plan.
