What happened to Hotjar?
Hotjar merged into the Contentsquare Group on 1 July 2025. hotjar.com now redirects to Contentsquare, and you can no longer create a new Hotjar account. Heatmaps, recordings and surveys carried on inside Contentsquare.
Are Hotjar surveys still free?
There is a free tier. Contentsquare's Voice of Customer Free plan gives you 100 responses a month, 3 surveys or feedback widgets at a time, and one month of access to responses. Growth starts at $99 a month for 500 responses, or $79 a month paid yearly.
Can Shapo replace Hotjar heatmaps and recordings?
No. Shapo has no heatmaps, session recordings or product analytics. If you watch replays to find where people get stuck, keep Contentsquare for that. Shapo replaces the survey and feedback side.
Can I run Shapo next to Contentsquare?
Yes. They use separate snippets. You can keep Contentsquare's free Experience Analytics plan for heatmaps and use Shapo for the feedback button, NPS and testimonials.
What happens to my old Hotjar responses?
